This medicine belongs to the class of antifungals and is used to treat various infections caused by fungi (such as Candida), including infections of the mouth, throat, skin, nails, vagina, or penis, and more serious infections such as cryptococcal meningitis. It can also be used to prevent the recurrence of some of these infections or to prevent Candida infections in people with a weakened immune system.
