    Metalyse is used to treat myocardial infarction (heart attack) within 6 hours of the onset of symptoms, helping to dissolve blood clots in the heart vessels. In other cases, it is used for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke caused by a clot in a brain artery, if less than 4.5 hours have passed since the onset of symptoms.
