Betaferon is used in the treatment of multiple sclerosis. It is indicated for patients who have experienced for the first time symptoms indicative of a high risk of developing the disease, for those suffering from relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis with at least two relapses in the last two years, and for those with active secondary progressive multiple sclerosis characterized by relapses.
