This medicine is an antibiotic that kills the bacteria responsible for various infections. In adults, it is used for infections of the lungs, urinary tract, paranasal sinuses, ear, genitals, stomach, intestines, skin, bones, and joints. In children and adolescents, it is indicated for pulmonary and bronchial infections related to cystic fibrosis, complicated urinary tract infections, and for the prevention or treatment of anthrax infections.
