    This medicine is used to treat chickenpox infections, severe cases of genital herpes, and Herpes Simplex infections (such as cold sores) in people with a weakened immune system. It is also indicated for treating Herpes Simplex encephalitis in rare cases and Herpes Simplex infections in children up to 3 months of age.
